Residential waste collection service charges are billed monthly on your City utility bill. Services are activated and stopped through the City when you open or close your utility account. Since garbage service is mandatory at any occupied residence, it will be billed as long as the utility account is open.
Services are provided by two private companies in the City of Stockton:
Customers with GREEN-bodied carts are services by Waste Management.
Customers with BROWN-bodied carts are serviced by Republic Services.

Garbage services are billed based on the size of your garbage bin; recycling and green waste services are included with the garbage service. The City of Stockton contract with the garbage companies requires an annual rate adjustment equal to 50% of the change in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) over the previous one year to be effective June 1 of each year.

Discounts are available for garbage collection services only. To qualify, your residence must be within City limits and the bill must be in the name of the qualifying customer.
If you are a senior 65 years of age or older, please contact Utility Billing Customer Service. You will be asked to provide a copy of your driver's license to receive a 10% discount. Seniors 65 and older and below median income of $35,483 annually per household may be eligible for an additional 10% discount. Please download an application and follow the instructions on the form or call Utility Billing Customer Service to have an application mailed.
