The Stockton Regional Wastewater Control Facility includes wetlands areas totaling 135 acres.
- As part of the treatment process, the wetlands area allows wastewater to flow through vegetative material to remove material without use of chemicals.
- Two ponds with varying water levels aid in settling materials and removing turbidity, some metals, and biochemical oxygen demand through aerobic, anoxic, and anaerobic reactions. Each year a cycle of vegetation decay and regrowth renews the process.
