National Night Out

America's National Night Out Against Crime – Tuesday, August 1, 2017

On Tuesday, August 1, 2017, Stockton neighborhoods are invited to join communities nationwide for the 34th Annual National Night Out. Participants are encouraged to organize social gatherings in celebration of community and police partnerships.

National Night Out is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) and co-sponsored locally by the Stockton Police Department. Join over 16,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities, and military bases around the world. Over 38 million people are expected to participate.

Neighborhoods, businesses, faith-based organizations and community groups are urged to join us.

City officials, Police and Fire Department personnel will make special visits to locations on our registry throughout the City. All participation requests must be received no later than Tuesday, July 17, 2017, by 5 p.m.

 

To Organize National Night Out Event in Your Neighborhood

 Register by sending an email with the following information:

  • Name of organizer and community group (If applicable)
  • Email and phone number of organizer (1 only please)
  • Location of gathering (Include physical address for GPS purposes)
  • Time gathering begins and ends
  • Estimated attendance expected

Ideas for National Night Out Celebration

On Tuesday, August 1, 2017, residents across the Nation are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights, and spend the evening outside with neighbors and police. Many neighborhoods throughout Stockton will host special events such as:

  • block parties
  • cookouts
  • parades and contests
  • flashlight walks
  • youth activities
  • anti-crime rallies

Be creative – have fun!

 

National Night Out's Mission

  • Raise awareness of crime and drug prevention
  • Generate participation in local anti-crime efforts
  • Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police partnerships
  • Send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back
